For Honor is set to release on Feb. 14 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC but before the game launches we wanted to give readers a chance to check it out in action.
Gaming Illustrated will be streaming For Honor live from our YouTube page at 5:30 p.m. PT (8:30 p.m. ET).
Ubisoft takes players into a world of clashing steel with For Honor. Controlling either the Knights, the Vikings, or the Samurai players will square off against each other in online deathmatches. Each faction has a set of warriors each with their own skills and moveset. Vanguard classes like the Kensei samurai and Raider viking are great for players who want a balanced warrior to play with. The bulky Shugoki and nimble Peacekeeper are just a couple of the 12 warriors players can use to dominate the battlefield.
Dominion is the game’s unique multiplayer mode where four players team up to capture points with an army of soldiers. It’s the objective of each team to reach 1000 points at which point the opposing team will “break” and no longer respawn, giving one side a major advantage. For Honor also implements a traditional deathmatch type with a 4v4 skirmish and three types of duel and elimination modes.
We will also take a look at the opening moments of For Honor’s campaign. Up until release Ubisoft has kept much of the single player content of For Honor under wraps. See how the story stacks up against the game’s gritty world of warriors engaged in never-ending combat where the sharpest blade is often the difference between life and death.
For Honor features a deep combat system that may look familiar to fans of medieval third-person combat games. But the mechanics also have a lot in common with fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Combat. Combos, feints, and trying to read your opponents is just as important as dealing the most damage.
