Norwegian game developer Funcom has expanded its innovative action fantasy MMORPG The Secret World with a new update entitled Issue #2: Digging Deeper.
This is the second major update to the game. The first big update, Issue #1: Unleashed, was released last July.
Issue #2: Digging Deeper is the first in a planned series of updates. A third update has already been announced by Funcom and in development. The updates are part of a pledge Funcom has made to ensure that The Secret World will be as long lasting an experience for gamers as possible.
The new update, which is now in effect, includes new investigation and action missions placed all across the war weary and supernaturally charged world The Secret World takes place in. All lairs you can explore in the game have also undergone revamping with newly added missions to each.
There are now also two new dungeons to go adventure in: The Facility and Hell Eternal. Both dungeons, according to Funcom, shall “give even the most experienced dungeon crawlers the fight of their life.” This likely means you can expect a challenge should you enter either of them.
If you are unsatisfied with the look you give your character at the beginning of a new game, Funcom has added two places to correct this in the game: a barber shop called Ockham’s Razor to change your hairstyle and a plastic surgery clinic, the Modern Prometheus, to alter your physical appearance. You can modify your character at any time be visiting either of these locations in the game with both offering more new options than before in defining your in-game character.
However, there is no doubt the biggest addition will be the update’s new weapon: a Rocket Launcher. Players will now be able to pulverize their enemies with raw explosive firepower once this weapon is acquired through a new in-game mission. The Rocket Launcher is the first of many planned auxiliary weapons that can be further upgraded further using a new Auxiliary Wheel. Using that, players can develop their auxiliary weapons to be more powerful and effective. A new passive ability slot has been added also to accommodate this new feature.
Currently, The Secret World does not use a free to play model and people will have to buy a paid subscription to the game in order to experience the new update.
Funcom has posted a video on its official Youtube channel going briefly into brief visual detail about the new content update.
