Square Enix announced it will be porting the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy to PC. The trilogy, comprised of Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns, will be released by spring 2015.
[adsense250itp]Final Fantasy XIII will release first on Oct. 9, with all three segments being released on Steam. There will be no additional features exclusive to the PC versions besides support for Steam trading cards.
Pre-orders are now being taken on Steam for the first part of the trilogy with a 10 percent discount off the game’s final price of $15.99.
The announcement comes after the unadvertised release of the Final Fantasy IV remake on Steam. That release and this announcement are part of Square Enix‘s plan to bring more games from the popular RPG series to the PC.
Final Fantasy has only on occasion ventured onto computers, preferring to be only on gaming consoles and handheld devices. Its last major PC appearance was in 2013 in the form of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, an enhanced re-release of Final Fantasy XIV: Online. This news, along with the release of the Final Fantasy IV remake are very indicative that the franchise is finally embracing PC gaming.
