FIFA 14

EA officially announced FIFA 14 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The company also released the first details on the football sim.

Developed by EA Canada, this year’s installment of the series is set to introduce new features that make the game more realistic than ever. The new Pure Shot feature and ball physics system will make every player more like their real-world counterparts.

With Pure Shot, players will adjust their stride and approach when taking a shot at the goal. The game will include more lifelike shot types, including off-balance and rushed shots.

Additionally, improved Real Ball Physics help determine the trajectory of balls and allow for more accuracy on both shots and passes. Players will be able to block out defenders while dribbling at any speed or use muscle to gain position using the Protect the Ball feature.

Teammate Intelligence has been improved for FIFA 14. A.I. defenders will recognize when to provide support while attacking teammates will have moves in their arsenal to outsmart opponents.

Changes to ball control allow gamers to keep possession while attempting to attack. Dribbling momentum and speed will be maintained even while turning using Sprint Dribble Turns. Variable Dribble Touches is a skill-based system that allows better players to control the ball easier while turning in every direction.

Aside from gameplay, FIFA 14 introduces a new Career Mode. With the help of The Global Scouting Network, players will be able to develop and refine a scouting network to find the best talent each year.

EA also announced online play will include enhancements to the FIFA Ultimate Team, a new online mode encouraging social competition and more new features to the EA Sports Football Club.

FIFA 14 is set to release this fall. EA said additional platforms for the game will be announced soon. Presumably that refers to next-gen consoles.
