With this announcement of Far Cry 3, Ubisoft has entered the mix of sluggers fighting to make it to the gamers’ holiday wish lists this fall and winter shopping seasons. With major shooter titles lining up as early as September for this over-populated release date we are looking to see what Fry Cry has to bring to the table to jump to the top of those wish lists.
In Fry Cry 3 you are going to be playing as Jason Brody, a man along on a mysterious island with danger and mystery around every turn, where savagery, lawlessness, and violence are the only way of life. Players are going dictate how the story unfolds when they choose which battles to fight and who they choose to help and befriend. As Jason Brody, players are going to fight across the island, whether it is by sneaking and killing from the shadows, running and gunning, or just blowing up half the island. Dan Hay, producer at Ubisoft has come out and said, “We’re taking more time to create the best possible gameplay experience. Far Cry 3 is a huge offering and we want every element of this insane, action-packed adventure to be of the highest possible quality for the players.” Given the amount of resources that Ubisoft has given the Far Cry team and the strong words in Mr. Hay’s announcement, it seems that the pressure is on to make Far Cry 3 a major seller this year.
Hopefully in the coming months we get to see some more information about Far Cry 3. With all the AAA titles coming out between September to late November, Ubisoft might have tried to pick the perfect date to release since we’re looking at a few weeks before Christmas and no other AAA titles coming out in December. At the end of the day though, Ubisoft has finally nailed down the release date. With GameStop already giving out exclusive DLC content, it looks like there they expecting this title to sell very well.
