Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon will release as a standalone digital title on May 1 for Xbox 360 via Xbox Live, PlayStation 3 through the PlayStation Network and PC, Ubisoft announced.
Pre-orders for the PC version of Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon will come with a soundtrack from the game courtesy of Power Glove.
The game was one of the worst kept secrets as screenshots, gameplay and the potential release date had already spilled onto the Internet. However, Ubisoft confirmed the game’s existence and launch date.
[adsense250itp]Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is a far cry from the main game it is based on (excuse the pun). While based on the same island and featuring similar mechanics as Far Cry 3, gamers will not have to had played the 2012 first-person shooter to experience the new downloadable title.
In the 80s-inspired game, players will take on the role of Sergeant Rex Colt, a Mark IV cyborg commando aimed at revenge. Voiced by Michael Biehn–star of movies including Terminator and Aliens–Colt is set on taking down his former commanding officer and his army of killer cyborgs.
The game takes place in a dark future–a future as viewed in the 1980s, meaning 2007. After a second Vietnam War, North America is still recovering from a nuclear attack.
Like Far Cry 3, players will be taking out bases to advance in the game and hunting wildlife. However, this time wildlife means blood dragons who are lined with neon and shoot lasers from their eyes.
Pricing details have yet to be announced. Ubisoft did release a VHS-style trailer for Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. The trailer can be viewed below.
