Evasion

Evasion, a sci-fi VR shooter from developer Archiact, will release for PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift on Oct. 9.

The game will retail for $39.99 and PSVR owners can pre-order the game from the PlayStation Store now.

Evasion puts players in the role as a member of the Vanguard, an elite special operations team tasked with saving a human colony from a robotic alien swarm called the Optera. As a Vanguard, players can select from four playable classes that are equipped unique weapons, abilities, and avatars.

Evasion releases on October 9 for PSVR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift.

“After two years building our dream game for VR, we are thrilled to announce that Evasion will be releasing on October 9th,” said Jennifer Dowding, Evasion’s Senior Producer. “The Evasion team was driven to deliver an action-packed, highly polished FPS experience that we know VR gamers will love.”

Archiact uses Unreal Engine 4 to deliver free-move locomotion and intense bullet hell action to VR players. The game can be played solo or with a friend in co-op, where both players can use different abilities to assist each other in combat. Evasion features a full campaign along with a challenging survival mode that will further put players’ skills to the test.

“The team’s vision of this game has been to deliver the definitive VR combat experience, and we’ve been fortunate enough to work with outstanding hardware and technology partners in creating this,” said Kurt Busch, Studio Head of Archiact. “Community engagement and feedback has played a major role throughout development and we’re really excited to finally deliver Evasion into the hands of gamers everywhere on October 9th.”

Based on the trailer, Evasion will feature much of the point-and-shoot gameplay VR players have come to expect. However, a few unique mechanics such as healing your partner, grabbing enemies and flinging them against the environment, and defending objectives will add much-needed variety in a space that can always use cool features.
