EA Details Star Wars Games Release Schedule

/ Jun 12th, 2016 1 Comment

Star Wars Visceral Games

EA detailed its plans for a number of Star Wars game projects including a release window for Visceral Games‘ contribution to the blockbuster franchise.

Jade Raymond took the stage at EA Play for E3 2016 to talk about Electronic Arts’ progress on developing games in the Star Wars Universe.

Star Wars Battlefront will see more free content and paid expansions coming in 2016 including Battlefront Bespin, and Battlefront Death Star, along with a final DLC pack in December. DICE and Criterion are also working on an exclusive Star Wars Battlefront VR mission for PlayStation VR. Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes will get new features like guilds and raids with future updates planned to extend the life of the game. December also marks the fifth anniversary of Star Wars: The Old Republic and more content is planned for the MMO as well.

Motive Studios, led by Jade Raymond, is collaborating with DICE on the next installment of Star Wars Battlefront. Raymond says the teams have taken feedback from last year’s Battlefront to improve the overall experience and give fans something to be excited about.

Visceral Games’ action adventure Star Wars game will see a release in 2018. Amy Hennig, who worked on the Uncharted series, has collaborated with the story team at Lucasfilm to create a brand new story in the complex Star Wars universe. Raymond also noted that Respawn Entertainment’s third person action adventure Star Wars game is in production, along with some other games in pre-production.

Quick Take

EA Play was meant to be an opportunity for Electronic Arts to show off some exciting new titles it has in development, especially with the Star Wars universe. Unfortunately, only a few seconds of footage was shown from Visceral’s game which was barley enough to get hyped for. For now EA will be focused on Star Wars Battlefront and incorporating the new trilogy into the title next year.
