[adsense250itp]Electronic Arts has announced its upcoming game EA Sports UFC will include female fighters: something Electronic Arts boasts proudly will be a first for any UFC game.
The upcoming UFC game will feature a roster headlined by two top UFC female fighters: Ronda Rousey, the current bantamweight champion, and Miesha Tate, the top contender for the title. In addition to being able to play as both fighters, gamers will be able to utilize their unique signature moves and fighting styles.
“This is a great moment for video games and for Mixed Martial Arts,” commented Dean Richards, the General Manager in charge of EA Sports UFC . “In our commitment to delivering the most realistic fighting experience ever achieved, we wanted to represent the full spectrum of talent and diversity of all the fighters in the sport, including women who have become an undeniable force to be reckoned with.”
EA Sports UFC is slated for a release next spring for the PS4 and Xbox One. The game will also be the first licensed UFC game handled by Electronic Arts who is handling both development and publication.
Our two cents: Despite the claims Electronic Arts is making about their UFC game being the very first to feature female fighters, we should point out that UFC Tapout, released in 2002 for the Xbox, featured two secret female fighters. So actually, it was UFC Tapout, not the upcoming UFC title, that had the distinction of being the very first UFC game to include female MMA fighters.
