On the heels of the enormous Xbox One announcement from Microsoft, EA announced the new EA Sports Ignite game engine that will power all EA Sports games.
The new Ignite engine will be seen on both the Xbox One from Microsoft as well as the PlayStation 4 from Sony. All games fueled by EA Sports Ignite will purportedly be alive with players who think, move and act like real athletes operating within dynamic living worlds.
Next-gen console games that will be powered with EA Sports Ignite include Madden 25, FIFA 14, NBA LIVE 14 and EA Sports UFC, all of which will be released within the next 12 months.
[adsense250itp]EA stated in a press release EA Sports Ignite blends new technology with the highest form of rendering, run-time physics, animation, locomotion, intelligence and online systems into a consolidated, unified new engine. Athletes within the games will possess “human-like intelligence for advanced decision-making” and players will have the agility required to change speeds and directions with accurate athletic ability. Living worlds will bring the game experience to a new level with rich and dynamic real-world stadiums and arenas.
“Through years of investment and innovation, we have built technology across EA Sports to create a game engine that will deliver stunning accuracy, realism and experiences that we previously could only dream about,” executive vice president of EA Sports Andrew Wilson said in a press statement sent Tuesday. “With EA Sports Ignite and the power of next-generation consoles, our games will come alive—with more authenticity, more emotion, more connectivity and more fun.”
EA Sports Ignite will compute four times faster per second than in previous consoles, which unlocks what EA Sports feels is “nearly infinite potential for how players think” and enable those players to make more difficult decisions faster. Players should come alive with contextual awareness and instincts. In FIFA 14, for example, a player’s sense of urgency will increase as the match goes on. With their team down by a goal, players will rush to take a free kick, corner or a goal-kick when time is running down.
The new engine from EA Sports for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will have stunning accuracy and visuals by creating living worlds. The in-game environments will feature 3D crowds for the first time ever with dynamic sidelines to impact the experience. Player actions will change depending on the situation and crowds will have an expectation of how the game should play out and react accordingly.
FIFA 14, Madden 25, NBA LIVE 14 and EA Sports UFC, will release within 12 months and will be available for pre-order soon. It should be noted that the popular ice hockey franchise, NHL 14, was not named in the press release as a title that is fueled by EA Sports Ignite.
