EA and Bioware Reveal Mass Effect Andromeda

Developer Bioware unveiled Mass Effect Andromeda during its press conference at E3 2015. The game is planned for release holiday 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, making it the second game to be announced for that time frame.
Set to the tune of “Ghost Riders in the Sky” by Johnny Cash, the cinematic trailer implores viewers to “explore new galaxies.” In a post on the company’s official site, Bioware said the trailer was made in Frostbite and represents the “visual target” for Mass Effect Andromeda.
Bioware said development for the game has been underway since before the release of Mass Effect 3: Citadel in 2013. The post explains players will be exploring the Andromeda galaxy and working with a new team of adventurers.

Not much is known about Mass Effect Andromeda at this point, but it is interesting that the game will not be a numbered entry in the series. That could suggest that Andromeda is branching off into a new franchise based on the Mass Effect universe. The game is likely to have a bigger presence at E3 next year.
