DUST OFF PC or Console Cleaning Kit Review

/ Mar 21st, 2014 No Comments

Dust Off Cleaning Kit

While it can be easy to forget, gaming PCs and consoles are sophisticated pieces of equipment. As such, they require routine maintenance to prolong their lifespans and improve overall performance. DUST OFF, long-time purveyors of premium computer cleaning products, should be a name familiar to any PC enthusiasts keen on keeping their machines in top shape. The DUST OFF Cleaning Kit is designed to help gamers maintain their consoles or PCs and keep their screens clean and dust free.

What’s Included

Here’s what comes in the box:

  • 1 – 3.5 oz compressed gas duster
  • 1 – suede microfiber cleaning cloth
  • 4 – cleaning swabs
  • 1 – 50ml LCD/Plasma cleaning spray
  • Performance

The items included in the kit are standard cleaning products that anyone who has maintained a computer should be familiar with. The duster does an admirable job blasting out dust and various unmentionables from the crevices of the keyboard. It also makes quick work of the months of dust built up inside a PC case.

The screen shammy is a high quality cloth that works fine on its own to clear up most dust and spots that end up on monitors. However, users will likely be left with a couple of spots that needed something more. That’s when the screen spray comes in handy. It does a good job of wiping out the tougher spots, and does so without leaving any streaks. It isn’t something that owners will keep in their regular arsenal of electronics cleaning supplies, but it does a great job and it seems less harsh than typical glass cleaners. The compact size also makes it easy to keep on hand. Additionally, the swabs really help get the gunk out of all the nooks and crannies of the system. It is especially handy for those with moderate to severe OCD.

    Price Value

Currently priced at $14.99 on Amazon and $19.29 at Staples, the cleaning kit feels a bit overpriced for what you get. The 3.5oz duster can won’t last very long against a bevy of consoles and a PC or two. The screen spray will probably last a bit longer since a little goes a long way. The shammy and swabs feel quality made and should last quite a while. The quality is there, but the DUST OFF Cleaning Kit lacks in quantity.

    Overall Impression

The DUST OFF PC or Console Gaming Cleaning Kit includes everything a gamer will need to keep their rigs clean, dust-free and well maintained. The individual products are of a standard and quality befitting the DUST OFF brand. However, the almost sample-sized duster and screen spray leaves a bit more to be desired for the price.
