Driveclub Release Date Revealed in New Trailer

Sony announced Driveclub will release on Oct. 7 for the PlayStation 4. The news was revealed in a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming racing simulator.
Driveclub originally was targeted as an exclusive launch title for the PS4 in November 2013. However, in late October Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, said the title was being delayed to early 2014. The announcement came only days after Watch Dogs’ surprising delay.
Yoshida said the team at Evolution Studios has been hard at work to make Driveclub the game they had envisioned. According to Yoshida, though Driveclub was planned for an early 2014 release date, ambition got in the way. To fully deliver an innovative, socially connected game, more time was needed.
Paul Rustchynsky was also revealed to be Game Director on Driveclub since February 2014. Rustchynsky’s has previous experience as Game Director on MotorStorm RC. He has been working with Evolution Studios and the company’s major titles since 2004.
Evolution Studios will slowly begin to roll out more information on Driveclub in the coming weeks. More on the game is expected from Sony at this year’s E3.
Driveclub Release Date Announcement Trailer
Sony’s PS4 launch lineup definitely took a hit when both Watch Dogs and Driveclub were delayed. The long period of silence on Driveclub left many wondering what the reasons behind its delay were. Though an October release means it was delayed for nearly a year, the extra time will likely equate to positive results.
Releasing Driveclub in October also paints a small picture on what to expect from Sony’s first-party PS4 release calendar in 2014. Though peppered with MLB 14: The Show in May and The Last of Us Remastered sometime in the summer, there isn’t much else. It now might be safe to assume that The Order: 1886–the only other big upcoming PS4 exclusive–will hit sometime in November or December.
