Disney’s Planes

Disney’s Planes will be available exclusively on Nintendo consoles, the company announced in a press release highlighting third-party support for Wii U.

The game, which is based on the upcoming animated film of the same name, is scheduled to release for Wii U, Wii and Nintendo 3DS on Aug. 6, three days ahead of the movie.

Disney’s Planes is a flying adventure game that takes place in the same world as the popular Cars films. Disney Interactive will extend the Planes storyline from the movie into the game and give players the chance to enjoy the thrill of flight as characters seen in the film.

Nintendo also highlighted several other third-party games coming to Wii U soon. Upcoming games that use the special functions of the Wii U GamePad and  features of the Miiverse include Injustice: Gods Among Us, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, Resident Evil: Revelations, Fast & Furious, Sniper Elite V2 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut.

Wii U owners will also be able to download games digitally through the Nintendo eShop, including Capcom titles DuckTales Remastered and Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara. The eShop will also be updated with Mutant Mudds Deluxe, Spin the Bottle and Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails.

Ubisoft will release the demo for Rayman Legends exclusively to Wii U in April. The demo will include the complete version of the online challenge mode. The online mode contains four levels, with Murfy’s Dungeon being exclusive to Wii U. Players will be able to complete new challenges daily and weekly while keeping track of progress through in-game leaderboards.
