Players who purchase Disgaea D2 in its initial run will receive a two-disc official soundtrack and a graphic print. During the first 30 days of the game’s launch, a costume DLC pack for fan-favorite characters Laharl, Etna and Flonne will be available as a free download on PSN.

Laharl, Etna and Flonne, the popular trio from the first Disgaea, return in Disgaea D2. The game takes place in the Netherworld where Laharl has finally become a full-fledged Overlord. Unfortunately, the many demons, creatures and other inhabitants of the Netherworld don’t respect his position. To prove his worth, Laharl sets out with his not-so-dependable vassals on a journey to achieve the respect he deserves. In true Disgaea fashion, a large cast of strange and unique characters will be met along the way including a girl claiming to be Laharl’s sister and other mysterious demons.

Many features and gameplay mechanics from the Disgaea series have been refined to bring in new players while remaining true to what longtime fans have grown to love. Disgaea D2 will feature a revamped character customization system which promises to be the best in the series’ history. The Item World returns which allows player to fight battles in order to power up their weapons, items and characters. Status-altering Geo Panels are still in place to wreck havoc on any unprepared enemies. Disgaea has also been known for its complex turn-based battle systems and ridiculous combos which lead to millions of points in damage, D2 is no exception.

Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness is set to release Oct. 8 in North America and Sept. 27 in Europe for the PlayStation 3.
