Blizzard announced that the PlayStation 3 version of Diablo 3 is now available for pre-order.

After taking the stage at Sony’s PlayStation 4 event in February, Chris Metzen, senior vice president of story and franchise development for Blizzard, announced the company’s hit PC game would be making the transition to PS3 and PS4. Metzen said Diablo 3 was already running on the PS3 but no footage was shown during the conference.

Diablo 3 is available for pre-order from select retailers around the world. Amazon, Gamestop and Walmart are the current retailers for the U.S. and a full list of participating retailers for other regions is available on the official Diablo 3 website.

Any player who pre-orders the PS3 version of Diablo 3 will also receive the Infernal Helm, an exclusive in-game item, on launch day. The Infernal Helm grants an experience point bonus to any character that wears it, ensuring a faster rate of leveling up. Blizzard also said that various retailers will also offer their own limited pre-order bonuses in addition to the Infernal Helm.

Over the past few months some trailers have been released of Diablo 3 with the PS3 interface. In addition, the game was playable at PAX East, where it received positive feedback from gamers.

“We’ve poured blood, sweat, and hellfire into creating an epic Diablo 3 experience for PlayStation gamers,” Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard, said of the PS3 version. He went on to say that it would include all the improvements made to the PC version over the year plus updates that would improve the console experience.

PS3 players will experience a version of Diablo 3 that has been custom-tailored to them. Updated boss fights and an entirely new user interface with intuitive control and a dynamic camera perspective will provide a quality experience with the Dualshock 3. Though players can tackle the game solo, it wouldn’t be Diablo without friends to conquer evil with. Cooperative play is available with a four-person party in either same-screen local co-op, online through the PlayStation Network, or through a combination of local and online.

As soon as it released last May, Diablo 3 became an instant best seller. It also received rave reviews, including a 90 percent from Gaming Illustrated’s own Sean Gibson.

When it goes on sale later this year, Diablo 3 will be available for the suggested retail price of $59.99. No further release details have been given–including an official release date–but they will be revealed at a later time. Details surrounding the PS4 version have not been announced but could see a reveal at this year’s E3.

For all the latest news about the console release of Diablo 3, keep it tuned to Gaming Illustrated.
