Telltale Games has risen to prominence over the last few years in the game industry, mainly thanks to the widely popular and critically praised “The Walking Dead” game that has sold well on PC and mobile devices. Recently, new titles from Telltale Games have emerged. Both a game based on the Borderlands IP and Game of Thrones have drawn significant attention. Now, details about Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Games Series are emerging.
During a SXSW panel, titled “Two Sides to Every Story – Tales from the Borderlands Unveiled at SXSW,” and originally reported by Polygon, developers from Telltale and Gearbox (the original Borderlands studio) discussed the upcoming story for the episodic game. It will take place on the same planet that served for the previous two games, Pandora, and will focus on the planet’s less adventous inhabitants.
In a trailer revealed to attendees, two characters are revealed, named Fiona and Rhys. Fiona is a nicely dressed con-artist, while Rhys is a Hyperion cyber-enhanced company representative. Players will get to control both characters as both recall the plot of the game from a future point. During the trailer it becomes evident that both characters have their unique spin on the events of the past.
Kevin Bruner from Telltale explained that the tone of the game will be true to the comedic roots of previous Borderlands games, a stark contrast from previous titles The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. No gameplay footage was shown at SWSX and no major gameplay elements were talked about during the panel. What is known is that the events of this game follow the events of Borderlands 2. Characters from previous games are purportedly going to make appearances in this edition of the franchise.
