Destiny Goes Down for Update

/ Nov 13th, 2014 No Comments

Eris tells of The Dark Below

Destiny’s most ardent players will have to pick up another game for a few hours as Bungie takes their title offline Nov. 13 to prepare for a few of the expected updates previously announced in the Bungie Weekly Update.

Servers are expected to be down from 8 a.m. PT to noon or later, but Bungie stresses that players will be able to jump right back into the game once the servers come back online.

Bungie’s announcement effectively confirmed to players that they won’t see many of the more noticeable in-game changes the developer has teased within this update. With no new content available immediately, the vast majority of players will likely see this as nothing more than an outage with no immediate reward. However, Bungie will be tackling Destiny’s bugs before rolling out the red carpet covered in new, exotic and more plentiful gear and weapons; put plainly, its never bad to clean the table before you put out the good china.

Since the game’s release, players have taken to forums in droves to post about the number of bugs that plague even the simple act of connecting to the open world aspects of the game. Posts typically mention encountering one or more of the bugs named for animals: baboon, weasel, newt, impala, jackrabbit, eel, elk, etc. These bugs appear randomly and are typically paired with being pulled from the map or losing the connection with the game.

Bungie indicated devs are tracking weasel in particular to further troubleshoot the cause of that bug.

Quick Take

Bungie seems to be looking into the bugs plauging many players in addition to adding new content. However, no promises are being made about major improvements in this or any future update to tackle this recurring problem.
