Dead Space 3 Awakened DLC Release Date Announced
Dead Space 3 will be getting the Awakened downloadable content pack on March 12 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game, EA announced.
The Awakened DLC will release on Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points and PlayStation Network for $9.99. PC players will be able to download the package through EA’s online service, Origin.com, for $9.99.
Developer Visceral Games will be taking players back to the roots of the Dead Space franchise with Awakened. The developer says the campaign add-on will take gamers through some of the darkest chapters the survival-horror series has ever seen. Many fans of the franchise have complained that Dead Space 3 is not as scary as its predecessors.
Dead Space 3 follows series main character Isaac Clark as he attempts to find answers to the mystery surrounding a 200-year old infestation of Necromorphs on the forgotten planet of Tau Volantis. Joining him in his efforts is Sgt. John Carver.
The latest installment of the series is the first Dead Space game to feature co-op play. Players can experience the game with a friend through simple drop-in/drop-out co-op. Many fans felt that adding a second character would affect the game’s fear factor. Dead Space 3 also includes support for Kinect, which can detect when a user curses at the game.
EA debuted a launch trailer for the Awakened DLC to announce the release date. The trailer can be viewed below.
