In early 2014 NIS America will release Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc for the PlayStation Vita in both North America and Europe.
The first group of US screenshots for Danganronpa have been revealed by NIS America, giving players a first look into the upcoming Vita title.
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc tells the story of Makoto Naegi and his classmates who have been imprisoned inside of Hope’s Peak Academy, a school which is supposed to house Japan’s best high school students. Cut off from the rest of the world, the students are being held captive by an evil bear named Monokuma.
Monokuma tells the students that the only way they will be able to escape the walls of Hope Peak Academy is to murder a fellow classmate and get away with it. As Makoto, players must discover who or what Monokuma really is and why they are stuck in this terrifying situation.
Danganronpa is developed by Spike Chunsoft. Players may recognize them as the developers behind 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward. Like those titles, Danganronpa plays like a visual novel with a murder mystery slant. The Vita version of the game is a remake of the PSP version which was released in 2010.
During the game, players will go through the school investigating the crime scenes of any murders that have taken place. Afterwards, the accused student will be put on trial where they will be found guilty or not guilty. Many activities will be available to the player to keep them engaged in both exploring story and solving crimes.
Though no other information has been revealed about Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, if it is as any bit engaging as Spike Chunsoft’s previous titles, they are in for a treat. In Japan, Danganronpa received a sequel which leaves the possibility open for it to come to the US and Europe as well.
