Company of Heroes 2 Release Date Announced
Company of Heroes 2 will release on June 25 for PC and Mac in North America and Europe, Sega announced.
The game was originally scheduled to hit shelves this month but was delayed after the downfall of THQ. Sega purchased the publishing rights to the Company of Heroes franchise following the dissolving of THQ. Developer Relic Entertainment was also bought by Sega in a deal totaling $26.6 million. Zenimax Media, the parent company of Bethesda, offered $26.3 million.
While Sega announced the later release date, the company hopes to quell any disappointment by offering a closed multiplayer beta for Company of Heroes 2 soon.
The real-time strategy is the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2006 title Company of Heroes. The original Company of Heroes is one of the highest rated real-time strategy games of all time.
Company of Heroes 2 takes place in 1941, as Germany begins a full-scale invasion of the Soviet Union. Players will take command of the Soviet Red Army in a battle to save Russia from the Nazi threat. Strategy and tactical expertise will be the main factors in tipping the balance of the game.
