Chucklefish Announces Release Date for Wargroove

Chucklefish announced via Nintendo Europe’s Indie Highlights Showcase the release date for Wargroove. The strategy game launches for PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on February 1. A PlayStation 4 release date will be announced soon.

Wargroove is a strategy game where you take command of one of several clashing factions. Using your Commander’s “groove” ability will be necessary to swing battles in your favor. You can play solo or multiplayer with up to 4 players online or local in competitive or co-op battles.

Players can choose from 12+ Commanders between the 4 factions: the Cherrystone Kingdom, Heavensong Empire, the Felheim Legion, and the Floran Tribes. Each Commander has a unique “groove” ability that gives them an edge in combat. In the Campaign mode, players can learn more about the reason for the war between factions and their motivations.

Wargroove launches on February 1 on PC, Switch, and Xbox One.

There are a variety of modes to try from skirmishes in Arcade mode where you can learn more about each character to the challenging Puzzle mode where you have to outwit and outmaneuver your enemy. The Codex provides a lot of additional detail about the history and lore of Wargroove.

For those that want a ton of customization options, Wargroove has you covered. The game features a robust map and campaign editor that lets you create your own battlefields complete with branching storylines, cut-scenes and customization tools.

In grand old school fashion Wargroove has a ton of secrets to discover. Can you be one of the first to uncover them all?

It is available for pre-purchase and pre-download on Nintendo Switch right now and open for wishlisting on Steam.

Wargroove launches for Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox One on February 1 for $19.99.

Our Take

Wargroove has been high on our list of games we want to play ever since it was announced for Nintendo Switch years ago. It is exciting to see Chucklefish’s vision finally getting a release date. As thrilling as the turn-based strategy action is going to be, we’re most excited for all the doggos!
