Dungeon of the Endless

Steam‘s Early Access program is a great way for gamers to get a chance to play titles well before their final release. Usually through Alpha or Beta builds, players can test out a game before it releases while also providing crucial feedback for developers. Dungeon of the Endless was just released on Early Access and it looks awesome.

Dungeon of the Endless is a hybrid roguelike dungeon-defense game where players have crashed their ship onto a hostile world. While collecting a team, gathering resources, and building defenses, players will have to defend the core of their ship while also fighting through an endless number of dungeons to get to the planet’s surface. Once a new game is started, a new randomly generated map will lie in wait so all the horrors will never be the same.

There are currently two versions of the game players can buy. The Pixel Pack for $12.99 (currently $9.75 for the Early Access price) and the Founder Pack for $19.99 ($14.99 for Early Access). The Pixel Pack nets the Alpha version of the game including the release, the official soundtrack, and a Community Badge. The Founder Pack comes with all that plus some bonuses like skins, a ship pack, in-game hero and more.

[adsense250itp]Developed by Amplitude Studios, Dungeon of the Endless has its ties to the Endless Space universe. Players familiar with the series will recognize similarities between the games. If the gameplay trailer is any indication, Dungeon of the Endless looks brutal and fun. Maps can potentially span dozens of rooms and the idea of having to survive them all and protect your ship is too challenging to resist. The game also sports a cool art style which will sink its teeth into any fan of retro-inspired graphics.

Amplitude says that with the help of Early Access, Dungeon of the Endless will be strengthened. Features will be added over time including more levels, monsters, heroes, objectives, unlockables and even a potential co-op mode. Their plan is to have the game finalized sometime in 2014. Be sure to check out the gameplay trailer for Dungeon of the Endless Below.
