Carmageddon II Released on GOG

/ Oct 18th, 2013 No Comments

Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now is now available for purchase from GOG. The violent open-world racing game has been listed at a regular price of $9.99. The release of the game on GOG is free of DRM security. The title has also been completely optimized for compatibility on current Windows operating systems.

GOG has also included a number of extras. These include the official manual, wallpapers and avatars. They are included free with the the purchase of Carmageddon II.

To promote the game’s addition to the site’s catalog, GOG is giving away 50,000 redemption codes to download its predecessor Carmageddon with its official expansion pack. The offer ends on Oct. 19  at 12:59 pm GMT or when all codes to download it are sent out. Anyone interested must have a registered account with GOG and Reddit. Full details on acquiring a digital copy of the game can be found at the game’s official announcement page here.

Further celebrating the game’s release is the launch of an official Ask Me Anything page on Reddit featuring members of Stainless Games: the studio that develops the Carmageddon games. They have promised to answer any question regarding the franchise as well as any related to the next upcoming title in the series: Carmageddon Reincarnation. The game was successfully funded by the public via Kickstarter last July.

Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now is the controversial sequel to the equally controversial racing game Carmageddon. Published in 1998 by Sales Curve Interactive, the game continued and improved on the violent formula of the first allowing players the ability to race in open-world environments without penalty. The goal of the game is to win races by one of three methods: being the first to drive through all the laps, destroying all of their opponents or violently driving over all pedestrians on the track.

The game was a critical success at the time of its release. It still remains popular and maintains a loyal community of fans.
