Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Review
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for XBox 360 is the latest blockbuster release in this series from Activision that promises state of the art graphics and gameplay like never before. Lets face it, there is nothing I could say bad about the Modern Warfare series that could hinder its reputation as one of the great franchise games in gaming history. We’ve seen the clever commercials and you can bet actors and athletes alike are hitting up their agents to get them into the next MW commercials – it flat out makes you cool. Compared to last year’s game many would say that Black ops, while still good, was a bit over the top. It featured a campaign that got stagnant and over done with explosions but the mult-player was still solid. This year’s edition in Modern Warfare 3 features just enough intense action, new features in multi-player and overall better presentation to make it a really solid title. If you still haven’t gotten you copy yet during this holiday season do some research and find a location that might still have it because you might have a tough time especially around this time of year.

CoD MW3 still sports a solid straight to the point appearance with menu options that are simple. The layout is like before with some added options to the multi-player as you get a new feature called elite where you get to boast about stats, compare and contrast with other players, look at your stats help scout maps, previous games, earn badges etc. If your in a clan theres the compete option where you can get together with friends to earn prizes and say if your not the best at the game there still other games where you can show off other talents like capture where you can send in videos of hilarious moments in for prizes. I love how this game has evolved and doesn’t just cater to players who have hours of free time. If you are too busy during the day you can still hop on and partake in features that are very rewarding without the time commitment. Elite adds a world of depth for those who want to show off their talents to friends and a welcomed feature to the modern warfare series..

Gameplay

MW3 still operates on an old engine but it’s still an exciting game that throws a ton of quality content at you. I felt that unlike Black Ops during the single player campaign, battles waged on well after the initial excitement of the game and didn’t become stale after a quick period. Modern Warfare 3 is fixed where fights transition quickly and keep the player involved. Multi-player in the end is what this title is all about and being a casual gamer you shouldn’t feel too far behind the learning curve against those who have had the title for the past month plus already, despite the fact that if you get this game after the holidays. The various game options offer the chance to find your go to game not to mention spec ops which pits you up with another player where you could either survive hordes of enemies or be thrown into objective based games. In the end this is what gives the MW franchise such lasting appeal.

Bullets flying past you, the different gun sounds and the huge explosions always add to the realism of this game making this one of the most dominant franchises out there. This years title is no different. Playing the game on a surround sound system offers a heightened level of awareness in all auditory aspects of the game which also works well when wearing some of the new nifty 7.1 surround sound headphones that are out on the market.

Overall

2011 will go down in gaming is one of the best years ever in gaming. Sure, it was slow early on but near the end we’ve been given so many solid titles gamers have been torn in terms of what to get this year. Passing up on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is not an option as it’s becoming part of our culture, but it would be easy to skip it for all the newer titles that have taken the gaming world by storm and your strapped for cash. If you do have the money though this game is well worth it. Modern Warfare 3 is definitely a great buy!
