Activision unveiled the first details regarding Call of Duty: Black Ops 3‘s zombie mode at Comic Con in San Diego.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3: Zombies – Shadows of Evil will be a separate game mode with an original storyline that does not tie in with the main game’s campaign. Set in the 1940s, up to four players can cooperatively attempt to uncover secrets in the noir-based location.
Voiced by actors Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, Ron Perlman and Robert Picardo, the magician, the femme fatale, the cop and the boxer must unravel a monster-filled evil plan being executed by the Shadow Man.
The mode will feature era-specific guns with an imaginative twist, as well as unique abilities from each of the protagonists.
Developer Treyarch also announced the PlayStation 4-exclusive multiplayer beta will begin Aug. 19.
The trailer for Black Ops 3: Zombies – Shadows of Evil can be viewed below. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is set to release Nov. 6 for PS4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

Taking a separate approach for Call of Duty’s zombie mode is unique and intriguing. While it will feature the same controls, the mode could take the feel of an entirely new game within Black Ops 3. It has the potential to add some much needed freshness to the annual series.
