Bungie revealed the new items and changes coming in the Destiny Age of Triumph update before its March 28 release.
The Age of Triumph marks the final major update Bungie will release for Destiny before a proper sequel launches sometime in the fall of 2017.
During it’s third and final Twitch stream related to the Age of Triumph update, Bungie showed off the new sets of armor relating to game’s previous raids. Players will earn gear evoking Vex and Hive aliens from the Vault of Glass, Crota’s End, and King’s Fall raids. Adept weapons will be introduced from exotics to elemental versions of raid primary weapons. New ornaments will also be available for weapons.
Age of Triumph will bring old raids up to the current light level, a feature that Destiny players have been begging for since the game’s first expansion, The Dark Below. A weekly playlist adds modifiers to raids to make them more challenging for players. Nightfalls will now have the XP buff return once players complete the difficult strike. Finally, a massive record book will be added, giving players 13 pages worth of activities to claim rewards and show off their achievements throughout their years of playing Destiny.
Destiny’s Age of Triumph is an admirable, last-ditch effort to squeeze a bit more life out of the game’s third year. While the raids should have been updated over a year ago, it’s obvious that Bungie has often struggled with what to do with Destiny and how to sprinkle interesting and worthwhile content into its DNA. As long as the studio has been hard at work building the foundations for Destiny 2, it should be able to solve most of the issues of the past.
