Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

2K Games is bringing the Borderlands franchise to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.

[adsense250itp]The Handsome Collection releases on March 24 in North America and March 27 in other territories, it will retail for $59.99.

Gearbox Software’s critically acclaimed Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be made available as a part of The Handsome Collection. The title will also include all downloadable content available for both installments.

Borderlands fans on PS3 and Xbox 360 wanting to make the shift into the current-gen versions will be glad to know that The Handsome Collection features a cross-save system. Characters and ranks will be carried over from the older-gen versions as long as they remain in the same console family. Additionally, the collection will also support four-player local co-op.

2K announced a special edition of The Handsome Collection will also be available. Dubbed the Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition, this version of the collection costs $399 and comes with a functional, robotic Claptrap model. The Claptrap robot can be controlled using an iOS and Android app and features a camera that shows a video feed of what Claptrap sees on the player’s mobile device. The edition also includes a SteelBook and 12 special lithographs.

Quick Take

When Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was released last year, most gamers were surprised that they wouldn’t be able to enjoy the title on their year-old PS4 or Xbox One. The industry’s trend of repackaging games into “remastered” versions likely led many not to pull the trigger on The Pre-Sequel. But for current-gen gamers, The Handsome Collection’s wealth of content is a great deal until an eventual Borderlands 3 arrives.
