2K Games and Gearbox Software announced in a blog post that Borderlands Legends will be coming to iOS devices on Oct. 31.
The all-new action packed Borderlands game will be a completely new experience designed specifically for iOS devices. The iPhone version will cost $4.99 and the iPad version of the game will cost $6.99.
Like its console brothers Borderlands and Borderlands 2, Borderlands Legends will blend two popular video game genres. Action RPG elements are mixed with strategy to create addictive, isometric gameplay. Players will be able to level up characters while fighting off waves of Skags, Bandits, Spider Ants and other enemies.
Unlike previous games in the Borderlands franchise, the mobile game will be a top-down shooter rather than a first-person shooter. Characters Brick, Lilith, Mordecai and Roland will be playable as they shoot-and-loot.
Players control all four characters simultaneously, allowing gamers to coordinate each character’s talents to create powerful attacks.

In addition to the skill tree and inventory management system fans of the Borderlands franchise are already familiar with, Borderlands Legends introduces a level of strategy proven to be successful with mobile game players. Weapons and gear can be purchased from an in-game merchant named Marcus.
Characters have three action skills and six abilities, with each ability supporting five levels. Enemy difficulty is determined by a players’ skill level, with an unlimited amount of level-ups available. The game uses a cover system for players to protect themselves from baddies. In the event that a player is wounded, a chance to score a second wind in order to be revived is available.
According to Entertainment Weekly, gameplay will be driven by random, objective-based missions. The game also promises to have the big boss battles the Borderlands franchise is known for.
