Artists will need to create original artwork inspired by Diablo III, in the form of either a portrait or an illustration of a central figure from one of the six classes of heroes. Alternatively, the game’s purported antagonist, Malthael (the Angel of Death), can also be depicted preparing for the upcoming battle. Any visual medium such as cosplay, photographs, or moving images are acceptable.
The first place winner will be one fortunately individual. First, they will receive a two-night trip to Blizzard HQ in Irvine, CA to meet the artists and developers working on Diablo III. They will also receive a framed print of their entry by the creative team. Perhaps best of all, the winning artist will receive a whopping $5,000 in cash and a signed boxed copy of the Collector’s Edition of Reaper of Souls. In addition to all that, the winner will get 8,000 deviantArt points and a 1-year premium membership to deviantArt.com.
The second place winner will not get a trip to California, but will get a framed signed print, as well as $3,000 in cash, the boxed copy, 4k points, and a 6-month membership. Third place will yield a framed print, $1,000 in cash, a signed boxed copy of the game, 4k points, and a 6-month membership.
There will be 22 semi-finalists to bring the total of winners to 25. All semi-finalists will receive a free signed boxed copy of the Collector’s Edition of the game, plus 1,000 deviantArt points. To check out more of the contest, check out the deviantArt contest page.
Since GamingIllustrated.com’s roots go back to supporting artists in the video game community, we’re thrilled to see a company as big as Blizzard support deviantArt. This is a great way to get the word out about the game, build further passion among the gaming population, and maybe even uncover some leads for new artists to join the team. It will also be great for fans to check out entries as they are sure to be impressive.
