Activision and Treyarch released a new gameplay trailer for Blackout, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Battle Royale mode
PlayStation 4 owners will be the first to play Blackout when the private beta begins on Sept. 10. Players who participated in the multiplayer beta automatically have access to the Blackout beta as long as the multiplayer beta client is still installed on their PlayStation 4.
Blackout is Treyarch’s take on the last-man-standing genre that has swept gaming by storm. PUBG and Fortnite are dominating forces in the industry and considering Call of Duty is one of the biggest franchises in gaming, it will be interested to see where Blackout lands. Featuring fan-favorite characters, weapons, and maps from across the Black Ops franchise, Blackout is capitalizing on one of the more celebrated branches of Call of Duty.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is stripping away a traditional campaign and replacing it with multiplayer-focused modes. Zombies, multiplayer, and Blackout will need to hold the weight of those expected the bombast of a Call of Duty campaign. Some details have trickled out over the past few months about Blackout, namely that matches during the beta will cap out at 80 players and that vehicles will help players move around. This gameplay trailer shows off familiar Specialist skills, guns, and, of course, Nuketown. A brief flash of zombies was also seen, giving the impression that zombies will play a role in thinning down the total number of players.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases on Oct. 12 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
