Beyond Good and Evil 2 existence has finally been confirmed today at Ubisoft’s E3 2017 press conference.
Michel Ancel, director and designer for the game, had an emotional entrance on Ubisoft’s stage after a new trailer for the game debuted. He thanked Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot for the years of support.
Beyond Good and Evil was originally released in 2003 and over the years has become a cult classic among fans. The sequel’s existence has been hinted at for years, especially since the game was announced in May 2008. A CGI trailer and art from Ancel have been the only things proving the game actually still existed.
Serving as a prequel to the original, players will explore a vast world set before the birth of the original game’s protagonist Jade. Players will explore System 3, a hub of diverse species and races in the 24th century.
System 3 is actually a massive online world where players are able seamless travel through space in solo play or cooperatively.
We know the expectations for Beyond Good and Evil 2 are enormous,” says Ancel. “We’re creating a sci-fi space opera, a game where players fight for freedom alongside unforgettable characters and explore a stunning and vast solar system, all while capturing the spirit of Beyond Good and Evil.”
No release platforms have been announced but Ancel encourages players to sign up for the Space Monkey Program to share ideas and feedback as the game continues development.
