Bethesda Officially Announces Rage 2

/ May 15th, 2018 No Comments

Rage 2

After a listing for the game prematurely posted on the Walmart website was discovered earlier this month, Bethesda had some fun with not-so-subtle social media teases of the upcoming Rage 2. The company finally officially unveiled the first-person shooter in a two-minute gameplay trailer, which can be viewed below.

The first footage of the post-apocalyptic shooter strikes a much different tone than the original game, giving a playful vibe full of action and energy. The dystopian setting seems to take inspiration from the film franchise Mad Max, which makes even more sense when you realize Rage 2 is being developed in association with Avalanche Studios — the same developer behind the Mad Max game.

Rage 2 is an open-world game set in the year 2185 with a group called The Authority attempting to rule with an iron fist. It is up to the player to take on rival gangs and topple The Authority’s oppressive rule using unique weapons, tech and vehicles scattered around the world.

The game is expected to release some time in 2019. Bethesda marketing VP Pete Hines tweeted that this year’s E3 showcase “[m]ight be our longest E3 Showcase ever,” so expect Rage 2 to play a major role in the presentation. Bethesda’s E3 press conference is set to take place June 10 at 6:30 p.m. PT.
