Battlefield 4 will release Oct. 29 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Electronic Arts announced on the game’s official page on Facebook page.
The game has also been confirmed for a release on the upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gaming systems. At this time no release date has been given for the next-gen versions of the game.
In addition to confirming an official release date for Battlefield 4, EA also announced the company will be releasing the game’s first official premium expansion pack called China Rising.
[adsense250itp]The expansion will be available on the same day Battlefield 4 hits store shelves. China Rising will add four new massive multiplayer maps, all of which are set in China. It will also include new vehicles and high-tech equipment to fit their locales and the forces occupying them.
Battlfield 4 is being developed by EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (DICE). The game will be the fourth main entry in the popular Battlefield franchise that has remained active since 2002. In keeping with the franchise’s tradition of placing the setting progressively forward in time with each main entry, Battlefield 4 will take place in the not too distant future future of 2020.
Players will control a U.S. Special Forces member known by only by the name Recker. He serves and commands a special unit known as Tombstone. The game’s story will focus on the group as a set of incidents leave them stranded in enemy territory. Put into a desperate position players must aid Recker and his squad by fighting across the inhospitable land while repelling enemies that impede their progress. Those enemies will include forces from both Russia and China.
Players not only will be expected to shoot down opponents but also shouting commands as they will be given control over commanding Tombstone as well. This will be possible thanks to the game’s Commander Mode, which has not been used since Battlefield 2142.
