Bandai Namco announced Dark Souls 3 will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC early 2016. The company first unveiled the game with a trailer during the Xbox briefing at E3 2015.
The Dark Souls 3 trailer featured pre-rendered footage, but no actual gameplay.
Developed by FromSoftware, the game is director Hidetaka Miyazaki’s follow up to the PlayStation 4-exclusive Bloodborne and a sequel to 2014’s Dark Souls 2.
According to Bandai Namco, the action-RPG will be Miyazaki’s “final episode” in the series and could bring an end to the Dark Souls franchise.
Darks Souls 3 will feature a variety of new locations and frustratingly difficult gameplay that made the franchise famous.
“The Dark Souls series has built a revered reputation placing it in the highest echelon of revered video game properties of all time,” Bandai Namco America Inc. senior vice president of sales and marketing Chris Gilber said in a press release. “We are very excited to see Hidetaka Miyazaki and his talented team at FromSoftware working on Dark Souls 3.”
