Bandai Namco officially announced Tekken 7 on the final day of the Evolution Championship Series fighting game tournament.
Tekken 7, which will be powered by Unreal Engine 4, is a close collaboration between Katsuhiro Harada and the Tekken development team and Epic Games Japan. The two will work closely together to ensure Tekken 7 leverages the full capabilities of Unreal Engine 4 and delivers high quality visuals to current-gen consoles.
Harada took the stage at EVO 2014 before the Street Fighter IV finals to make the announcement. He briefly spoke on three unannounced games in development, with Tekken 7 being the first.
Before unveiling an announcement trailer, Harada stated more information on Tekken 7 will be unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con starting July 25. He will be at the Bandai Nacmo Fighting Games Panel to discuss everything more about the Tekken series.
No platforms or release date were announced for Tekken 7.
Tekken 7 Announcement Trailer
Watching Harada announce Tekken 7 was way more hype than the trailer. What the trailer means will likely become more clear come San Diego Comic-Con. The most interesting news of all is the close partnership between Harada and Epic Games Japan to get the game running in Unreal Engine 4.
