Ubisoft updated the Assassin’s Creed website with a reveal page hinting at a worldwide reveal of the next entry in the series on May 12 at 9 a.m. PST.
Assassin’s Creed Unity, the last main entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, was released last November exclusively on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Unlike Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Unity was not given a number but was considered the fifth core game.
“Victory” has been the rumored titled for the next entry since information about the game leaked six months ago. The game looks to be set in Victorian London and the reveal pages support these claims. On the American reveal page a set of brass knuckles is seen branded with the quote “strength through loyalty.” The audio of a train plays on the page and “God save the queen” can be seen in the lower left corner of the reveal image.
While the Victorian setting seems all but confirmed, the European reveal site hints that the game may be a numbered entry. On the site a video plays of a pair of crossed hands. A hand with brass knuckles grips a cane while the other features the hidden blade of the assassins, along with a syringe attachment on top. The video file is given the name “ACVI_Jacobs_Hands” suggesting the game may be titled Assassin’s Creed 6: Victory and the protagonist could be named Jacob.
Ubisoft left a bad taste in Assassin’s Creed fans’ mouths with the initial poor performance of Unity. Plagued with issues and glitches, the game stumbled as the first pure “next-gen” entry in the franchise. Victory is a chance for the company to get back on track and do something truly incredible with the franchise. If Assassin’s Creed is going to be a yearly series, each entry must bleed with quality, not just quantity. We will see if the next game is a step in the right direction when it is revealed next week.
