Assassin's Creed 4 Trailer Leaked

Assassin’s Creed 4 Trailer Leaked

Out of nowhere, little known YouTube user “Igor Surov” leaked what was undeniably the “World Premiere Trailer” to Ubisoft’s upcoming AAA title, Assassin’s Creed 4. Dubbed ‘Black Flag‘ the game had just been announced by the publisher, with no release date or platform information revealed. With the trailer now leaked, all that has totally changed. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will be released on the PS4, along with the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U, with “Also Coming on Next-Gen Consoles” in bold lettering appearing at the end of the video. There is no mention of Microsoft’s upcoming new platform, also being referred to as the Xbox 720, during the video. However, perhaps the biggest bombshell revealed is that the release date of Assassin’s Creed 4 will be October 29, 2013.

Little is known about the YouTube user that leaked the trailer or why it was only up for approximately an hour. What we do know now are major details about the game. The trailer started out with Blackbeard, the famous pirate, talking about a fellow pirate whose reputation was more reveared and feared than Blackbeard. Narrated by the famed pirate, he tells of a man who knows the land and sea better than any, all the while more within the tavern that Blackbeard spoke in gathered around. The video was approximately two minutes in length and took place in what looked to be colonial times near the point where the Caribbean was being settled by Europe. Obviously, with a pirate theme, Assassin’s Creed 4 will take place in the same time setting as other famous pirate games and movies.

Blackbeard speaks of this man, which is the central character in Assassin’s Creed 4, while action filled intense cut-scenes are voiced over by the pirate. At no point did Blackbeard as “The Assassin” interact, but it was clear that their paths had crossed in the past and Blackbeard knew this man to be more dangerous than he.

The central assassin character, which is presumably the one that gamers will play as, looks to be of similar mold to other characters. He’s a young man (so it’ll be a male and not a female), blond hair, fair skin and in his mid-20s by a fair guess. At many point during the trailer, he was not in Assassin’s garb, but only donned it during battle and assassinations.

To say that the trailer was packed with action would be an understatement. There were epic ship-to-ship sea battles shown, with the assassin taking a rope and swinging from one ship to another, as well as a battle on the docks. Plenty of men were slaughtered, no match for the assassin’s skill.

As always, the almost iconic view of all the Assassin’s Creed games comes into play during the trailer.

During this scene with our assassin swimming toward wreckage, and perhaps loot, Blackbeard stated that this man was dangerous on land and sea.

In this scene, the assassin is in his traditional garb and came up behind a couple, only to assassinate the man and then start walking off with the buxom woman, who seems less than thrilled at this turn of events.

Boom. Assassin’s Creed 4 will be released on October 29, 2013 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC – at the very least. While this trailer did not come from Ubisoft’s YouTube Channel and no official comment has been given, although further rumors are stating the Ubisoft took down the video and plan to release it on Monday, March 5.

I am so excited for this game. Maybe Assassins Creed 3 wasnt all I hoped, and maybe this wont be any better, but this game looks fantastic nevertheless. And you just might see London… who knows?

I agree, AC3 wasn’t bad at all but for one thing I really missed the feeling of having been to the cities before. Everyone knows how Istanbul and Rome looks like, but Boston was a disappointment. And it wasn’t as… Great, as I thought it would be although it was amazing. But it felt like the whole game was missing something. Black flag looks great, judging from the pictures, and hopefully it will be. I wouldn’t mind London as well!
