Anthem will release on Feb. 22, 2019, EA announced at its E3 2018 press conference today.
The game was first announced at EA’s E3 2017 press conference with a short tease and fully revealed the next day at Microsoft’s press conference.
BioWare’s brand-new IP is an action RPG where players control power exosuits called Javelins. Four different Javelins are available with their own weapons and special abilities. Players can fly their Javelins around the environment, even underwater or while hovering to shoot enemies and dodging attacks. The Javelins also have customizable paint jobs and gear so players can further tailor their gameplay and visual styles.
Four players can group up together to complete missions, explore the world, and collect loot. The game features a dynamic world that has been abandoned by “the gods” and players will be able to see the choices of their decisions reflected in the world once returning to the main hub. BioWare also said that Anthem will receive post-launch updates that will change gameplay and the story, as the world is also shaped over time.
Pre-orders for Anthem will grant VIP demo access and an in-game Founders banner. Pre-ordering the standard edition of the game grants a legendary weapon and the Legion of Dawn armor pack for the Ranger Javelin. Legion of Dawn Edition pre-orders or post-launch purchases will receive all Legion of Dawn armor packs, a Ranger Javelin gear attachement, and a digital soundtrack.
Origin Access Premier members can play Anthem first with unlimited access on PC starting Feb. 15, 2019. EA Access and Origin Access Basic members can play up to 10 hours of the game as part of the Play First Trial.
