Atlus confirmed that Adachi will be a playable character in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Tohru Adachi and his Persona Magatsu-Izanagi will be avaiable in the United States as a DLC fighter.
Adachi was previously revealed to be a playable character in screenshots for the Japanese version of the game. He will be available as a free download during the first week of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax‘s release in the Americas. After the initial release of Ultimax, he will be available as paid DLC. No pricing has been announced.
A demo of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be playable at EVO 2014.
Atlus is also putting up $1,000 and some other Atlus swag as part of the prize purse for the Persona 4 Arena side tournament at EVO. Those looking to participate can register online at Dustloop and on-site up to an hour before the tournament begins.
Atlus and Madcatz are teaming up to release a Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Fight Stick. The design of the Fight Stick will be supervised by the Persona design team. It will be compatible with PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
It will be customizable to allow face plate and button switching. The stick also is equipped with a earphone jack and is easy to carry. No further information has been revealed, but expect more as the game gets closer to its Japanese release date in August.
Quick Take
Adachi as a playable character in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is insane. It seems like he will be integrated into the story aspect of the game. P4A was such a weird way for Atlus to continue both the Persona 4 and Persona 3 stories, but it worked. The only bummer is the very short window to get Adachi for free, but anyone looking to pick up Ultimax likely will cop it day one.
