Overkill The Walking Dead

Developer Overkill announced the upcoming first-person shooter based on The Walking Dead franchise will be brought to consoles thanks to publisher 505 Games.

The Walking Dead will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Overkill announced. The game was originally announced last year, and is expected to be available in 2016.

Starbreeze Studios, owner of the developer behind the heist franchise Payday, said Overkill’s iteration of The Walking Dead will be an online co-op shooter similar to its popular title. The company is working with The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman to ensure the game stays true to the graphic novels while introducing new characters and plotlines.

The developer will get a licensing fee of $10 million plus royalties from sales of the game.

505 Games has published titles for consoles including Sniper Elite 3 Review and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons .

Quick Take

Starbreeze and 505 Games have worked together in the past, so its not surprsing to see them working together again for Overkill’s The Walking Dead. While Telltale Games has a successful game franchise based on The Walking Dead, Starbreeze is hoping to give fans a triple-A experience.
