5 Cool Details from the Assassin’s Creed Unity Co-op Trailer

Ubisoft released a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity showing off more of the upcoming title’s cooperative gameplay.
Since its E3 reveal, players have been drip-fed information about how co-op is one of many drastic changes for the series’ formula. Here are a few cool details we spotted in the newest trailer.
Assassin’s Creed Unity strips the competitive multiplayer present since Brotherhood and replaces it with co-op focused missions. Based off the trailer, players will have the ability to wield more than just a common sword. An ax and spear are used by two other characters. Though previous Assassin’s Creed games offered multiple weapons, they never felt necessary to use and rarely altered gameplay. It looks like players will be able to specialize with a certain main weapon while also using the hidden blades.
Giving players the chance to specialize with a particular weapon is also going to change how players attack. The character with an ax is shown using brute force to take down enemies. Players wielding a spear are capable of quick jabs and agile kicks. Unity may not have character classes but different weapons along with customizable skills and armor can make each player feel unique.
Down but Not Out
Dying is never fun, especially when playing with friends online. Respawning is always so tedious. Unfortunately, Assassins aren’t completely invincible and the trailer shows them absorbing some brutal attacks. But even after taking a sword to the throat or a spear to the chest, these Assassins lived to fight another day with the help of a friend. The trailer gives the impression that reviving fallen comrades will be a common element of co-op gameplay.
Every player will experience Unity through the eyes of Arno, even when playing with others. As for those other players on the team, they will appear as different Assassins, each with a different outfit. As stylish as the French Revolution garb looks, it barely hints at the customization options players have.
Ubisoft has said that players can equip different pieces of armor to be more stealthy, take more damage and more. Hopefully there’s an option to make Assassins look just as stylish when viewed by other players.
Keep to the Shadows
Though this co-op trailer focuses on combat, there’s still glimpses at Assassins being their usual stealthy selves. This wouldn’t be an Assassin’s Creed game without players taking out enemies in silence. As seen in the recently released “Heist” mission walkthrough, stealth is still important to gameplay. If players can have different builds for their Assassin, it will give players the opportunity to experience missions in new ways.
Assassin’s Creed Unity releases on Nov. 11 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
