2K Announces XCOM 2

After a viral tease involving Advent, 2K announced the game that sparked the marketing campaign is XCOM 2.
XCOM 2, a sequel to 2K’s turn-based strategy game, is expected to release for PC, Mac and Linux this November. The game will not be available for consoles.
Developer Firaxis said XCOM 2 will take place 20 years in the future, when humanity has lost a war against aliens that have established a new world order. It is up to the XCOM team to fight back and retake control of Earth.
The stealth title will be a continuation of the long-running series and a direct sequel to the 2012 title XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Firaxis is planning to improve gameplay by modernizing classes and customization and adding new enemies.
XCOM 2 was first unveiled through IGN First. The first trailer for the game from the announcement can be viewed below.

All signs pointed to 2K’s “Advent” tease leading to another XCOM game, and 2K finally made it official. XCOM: Enemy Unknown was a surprising hit in 2012, but the fact that XCOM 2 will only be available for PC is a disappointment for console players who were hoping to experience the follow-up.
