20XX Launches on Consoles This July

Batterystaple Games and Fire Hose Games are bringing the Mega Man-inspired 20XX to consoles this July.

20XX hits Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 first on July 10 with the Xbox One version coming out on July 11. The console release will include the “Hawk DLC Pack”, which adds a third playable character to the game that employs a whip to steal energy from enemies and power-up five special abilities.

The console version includes the “Hawk DLC Pack” adding in a third playable character.

20XX takes its inspiration from Capcom’s Blue Bomber, but adds plenty of modern twists to update the formula. Most notably, 20XX brings co-operative local and online multiplayer and roguelike elements into the action platformer gameplay.

The game is based around players wanting to keep playing and trying to best their previous runs. Adding in the addictive roguelike style where each playthrough is different forces players to cultivate creativity in addition to skill. With multiple difficulties and daily ranked challenges there is a lot to keep coming back to in 20XX.

20XX comes out on Switch and PS4 July 10, and Xbox One on July 11.

Currently the game is available on Steam. It released back in August 2017 after a successful stint as part of Valve’s Early Access program. 20XX sold 100,000 copies on Steam and was named on of Valve’s Top Early Access Graduates.

20XX hits Switch and PS4 on July 10 with Xbox One coming July 11.

Our Take

We checked out 20XX back when it was in Early Access and dug what we saw. The mix of retro style gameplay with modern twists makes for a fun combo. It’ll be especially exciting to try out this unique roguelike on the go on the Nintendo Switch.
