007 Legends, set for release on October 16, 2012 was announced by Activision today and will feature Hollywood talent ranging from many of the faces of the James Bond movie franchise. Specifically named in the release include Daniel Craig, Michael Lonsdale, Naomie Harris and Richard Kiel. 007 Legends is a video game that will feature Daniel Craig’s version of James Bond with Rory Kinnear voicing MI6’s boss, Bill Tanner.

Missions in the game will be a nod to many of the popular Bond movies of the past. The Moonraker missions in 007 Legends will feature Lonsdale reprising his role as the villain “Hugo Drax” as well as Kiel coming back as the popular henchman “Jaws” who had metal teeth. It’s curious to know how an actor who only grunted in Moonraker will lend voice acting talents to a video game, but kudos nonetheless to Kiel’s agent. Harris, who previously starred in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, will be a main character in the next Bond movie, SKYFALL and will also be making an appearance within the video game.

Veteran Bond film writer and video game contributor Bruce Feirstein, known for writing “The World is Not Enough” and “GoldenEye” wrote the 007 Legends storyline. Simultaneously, well respected composer David Arnold, perhaps most famous for the stirring soundtrack of Independence Day, lent his musical talent to the game’s soundtrack. Activison noted as more missions are revealed, the 007 Legends roster will continue to grow.

007 Legends is being touted as a one-of-a-kind video game that sports an original story arc that ties together five classic Bond movie inspired missions. The game will also have a mission based on the upcoming Bond movie, SKYFALL, which will be available as a DLC, presumably after the movie has been released. In the press release, Activision is promising that 007 Legends will give players state-of-the-art spy gadgets, a wide variety of weapons and vehicles and all the action that is usually accompanied by a Bond film, only this time, in a video game.

For more information on 007 Legends and to unlock exclusive content, gamers are encouraged to visit the game’s official website and Facebook page. The game will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PCs.
